A well made anime! I went into it thinking they would just dump a bunch of traditional anime tropes all over a universe I love. I was wrong! The show keeps the tone of the first movie while delivering a very gritty story that stands on its own.

Anime Pacific Rim with a little bit of Mad Max, also known as the show I never knew I absolutely needed until now. The plot is great (a few strange story choices aside), the darker tone works and overall it's just a great new chapter for the series.

Do the Kaiju of Pacific Rim feel love? Season two reveals the answer! Can people turn into kaiju and form weird kaiju cults? Just watch season two! Do robots have souls and do madmen have hearts? Your curiosity is satisfied in season two!

It goes some weird places, as anime often does, and it doesn't all land. It maybe needed another season to flesh out certain plotlines. Still, it continued to provide cool additions to the Pacific Rim universe that I didn't know I needed until now.
