Here are our picks for the best kaiju film or show that has come out each year since we've begun our review blog. This page may get updated retroactively from time to time, just based on the nature of foreign release dates and things like that, but whatever is currently on this page is the best of what we've been able to watch thus far.

Godzilla Minus One
There was some great stuff this year, both old and new, but as soon as the credits rolled on Minus One there really wasn't much left to debate. It deftly blends of horror, spectacle, and humor with a genuinely moving tale of struggle and sacrifice. It all makes for a movie that can genuinely be recommended to anyone, even people that aren't usually into giant monster movies.

With the unique focus on Norweigen folklore and some great special effects, this one easily won us over right at the end of the year. It even managed to tug at the heart strings a little with the monster's backstory, a sure-fire recipe for success in this genre. The seeming success of this film leaves us hopeful that the sequel tease at the end is not in vain.

Godzilla vs. Kong
It wasn't as unanimously loved by both of us as King of the Monsters, but it's hard to argue with all of the spectacle offered up by Hollow Earth and the multiple epic battles. That last half hour alone is worth the price of admission, with a neon-soaked final confrontation and a fun tag team battle to cap it all off.
