This remake has, without question, deviated. Whatever semblance it once bore to the original violently explodes into something completely new. I can't even begin to imagine where they go with the next movie. It's spectacular.

It shakes things up even more from the original series, both for better and for worse, but it's still exciting to watch. That finale was mind-blowing and felt like it should have been the end, so I guess we'll have to see what the third one brings.
