It obviously takes inspiration from the Godzilla franchise, yet it succeeds in being very much its own thing. A giant rocket turtle, while not necessarily being imaginative, is a surprising digression from expectations.

A solid enough "inspired by Godzilla" effort, even if watching a tiny tanks fight in vain against a guy in a monster suit isn't very novel by now. However, his rocket legs and hunger for fire make Gamera different enough to stand out.
